I DECIDED TO SWAP OUT MY SUBARU 5 SPD MANUAL FOR THE SUBARU 4 SPD AUTO AND IM GLAD I DID. THE LUXURY OF AN AUTO TRANSMISSION DEFINITELY MAKES THE DRIVE MORE ENJOYABLE.
MY RETRO RV IS A HIRE VEHICLE SO IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT THAT IT IS RELIABLE. THE SUBARU 4EAT TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN GREAT AND HASN'T MISSED A BEAT!
The van drives really well. On the way home I did my best to keep it under 120 on the motorway but it just wants to go… The Subaru 4 speed is smooth and the engine willing. At cruise speed the box handled the hills on Motorway with ease. Kicking down as appropriate and enabling me to keep up with and even pass other traffic with ease. I like also that it kicks down when descending, thus aiding speed control and braking. The engine seems strong and I love the exhaust note!
